Join us in the exquisite Derrymore House for our upcoming exhibition Linen & Lace. The house was built in the late eighteenth century by Isaac Corry, MP for Newry and was associated with a number of key moments in Irish and British History. Corry was the last Chancellor of the Exchequer of Ireland before the Act of Union of 1800, in which he played a significant role. Local anecdotal stories persist that the Act of Union was drafted in the drawing room (also known as the Treaty Room) of the house in 1800. Whilst this has never been fully substantiated, it is generally conceded that the Act more than likely was discussed here
