Muriel Gorman is a native of nearby Co Louth. She lives in Shelagh which lies within the Parish of Upper Creggan, Crossmaglen.
Muriel has been making lace for over 20 years and learned how to make lace with Mary McMahon in classes in Crossmaglen. Muriel is a very gifted crafter and can turn her hands to most any craft but Carrickmacross Lace holds a very special place in her heart.
Muriel is a founding member of the South Armagh Lace Collective and is currently Vice-Chairperson of the Group.
Muriel’s own lace has featured in award winning designs of a local milliner. Muriel started out by making lace purely for pleasure but now makes small lace pieces for commissions.
She also facilitate monthly lace-making workshops and events for the South Armagh Lace Collective and very much a key figure in the organising activities of the group
